Trivia

  • Only 27,500 Amiga 1000 have ever been sold in Germany.
  • Came with US keyboard and the original mouse. Floppy disks are missing. There was also a Sidecar in the bundle.
  • The top shield and the expansion port cover is missing.
  • While the cases of the system and peripherals were quite dirty when I got the machine, the inside was perfectly clean. There was even almost no dust in the fan.
  • Inside the machine, I found a FutureVision 4 MB expansion. It is seated on the CPU socket and provides 4 MB of Extended RAM and a RTC. The board is modified according to the documentation to accept 4 MB instead of the original 1 MB. It does not support AutoConfig though, so the RAM and RTC must be added via proprietary command line tools.

Restauration Works

  • Cleaned the original mouse in an ultrasonic bath and whitened it in the sun. Cleaned the mouse mechanics. The wire is still a bit dirty and brittle, but the tank mouse itself is in a very good state.
  • Cleaned the keyboard. Fully disassembled it. The case and keycaps were cleaned and whitened in the sun. The frame was sanded and painted with primer and matte black paint. PCB and switches were cleaned, and everything was reassembled.
  • PSU was recapped and checked. The PCB was slightly damaged from a previous water intrusion, but that could be fixed.
  • Recapped the mainboard, daugtherboard, and FutureVision expansion board.

Known Issues

  • FutureVision battery needs replacement.
  • Don’t know yet if I replace the floppy with a GoEX, similar to my other A1000.
  • Keys ‘H’ and ‘ALT right’ are not working, need to be cleaned or replaced.
